The Origin Story
In 2025, my husband and I attended the Tacoma Porch Fest for the first time, and LOVED it.
So much, in fact, that to celebrate my 40th birthday in October, I wanted to host an open mic night in the backyard so that friends, family, and neighbors could enjoy live music together. (And middle child that I am, I also didn't mind the opportunity to be in the spotlight myself to perform some songs)
Despite the stormy weather, we had an amazing time. By the time spring came around, I thought, "Wouldn't it be rad to do this when the weather is consistently nice?"
I needed to acquire a full sound system for my own gigs anyway, and figured it would be great to get more use out of all that gear and the stage-sized cabana area in the backyard that we never found a good use for (until now).
On June 4, 2026, we hosted the first-ever show at The Red Clover and now we're hooked!
Why "The Red Clover"?
Paul is very concerned about the bees, and has been planting clover in the yard to create more pollinating flowers to attract and feed bees.
And it has been working -- during the spring and early summer, our yard was covered with several variants of clover. The red ones stood out most, and people commented on them all the time.
When it came time to give our backyard venue a name, it just had to be "The Red Clover."
